Eagles @ Giants

Easy as it is to get wrapped up in celebrity gossip, football is even more addictive. It's a short season, there are very few games, there are LOTS of long-standing rivalries, and it all culminates in the biggest sports championship game of the year. I love football. Maybe you don't love football. You don't have to read this part if that's the case.

Week 11:

Tomorrow is a very big day in the NFC East. It seems lately that every week is a big week for the NFC and for the NFC East specifically because so many teams are playing well and have very real playoff chances. The Giants are currently tied for first place with the Dallas Cowboys. Last week they were completely embarrassed in Giants Stadium against the Minnesota Vikings, a team losing battles both on and off the field. This week they play the Eagles sans Terrell Owens (Have you ever been to his website? I encourage you to watch the whole introduction. It's long, but totally worth it. That man and his agent are a piece of work.) and Donovan McNabb. Let's be honest. The Giants are going to win. They are probably not a better team than the Eagles even without TO, but without McNabb there is no way the Eagles offense will be able get it together against an improving Giants defense. If Eli Manning has anything short of a disastrous game and the refs can keep the yellow flags in their pockets, the Giants should have enough ammunition to take care of the defending NFC champions and former favorites to take that title again this season.

On a personal note, no matter how depleted their offense is, I take great pleasure in seeing the Eagles lose to the Giants. It hasn't happened a whole lot recently, but, man, am I looking forward to it tomorrow. Also on a personal note, am I alone in thinking that Eli Manning is adorable? Come on people. Check out the baby face! Am I also alone in thinking that Jeremy Shockey is the sexiest man in football? God you gotta love the American flag arm tat. Hot! And don't get me started on Michael Strahan. I wish they made see-through helmets so the cameras could capture his million dollar smile after a big hit. Man that would be hot.

Ok, so if the Giants can hold on and beat the Eagles this week, they have every reason to think they'll be in the thick of things come week 15 or 16. They have a very rough schedule in front of them, but the fact that they have, for the most part, gotten the job done against teams they should beat has set them up for a shot at the playoffs. If they can survive even half of their remaining games, they could be playing NFL football after January 1st. I'm not saying it is likely or it will be easy, but the Giants have shocked the shit out of me on several occasions this season.

Ok, there you have it. I'm obsessed with the Giants.
