Idiotarod 2006

Yesterday's weather was unseasonably warm and turned out to be perfect for the annual(?) race from Brooklyn to Manhattan in which teams of runners are dressed like it's Halloween and pushing decorated shopping carts; known as The Idiotarod. Gothamist kind of live-blogged the event, as much as such a thing can be live-blogged. Apparently because of the Critical Mass gone awry on Friday night, the starting point for the Idiotarod was moved from Williamsburg to Fort Greene Park, to avoid being shut down by the police. Anyway, seems like almost everyone made it to the finish line (the East River Park). Here are some pictures from Gothamist's Idiotarod photo stream.

I think this is probably in DUMBO approaching the Manhattan Bridge. That's a lot of people.

Somewhere on the Manhattan Bridge.

Running with scissors (clever!) over the Bridge.

Who invited their dad?
